When is the best time to start looking for an apprenticeship?

It’s exam season, everything you have worked towards for the past two years is coming together and the pressure really is on. This is your chance to show what you are made of, and after that? Of course, it’s summer holidays, time to relax, kick back, spend some time in the sun and prepare for September when you’ll start applying for apprenticeships … right? … Well maybe not… as they say, “The early bird catches the worm”

It’s understandable that for as long as you have known the summer has been yours to do with what you will, but if you have just left school or college and are looking to move into the world of work or apprenticeships there will be opportunities out there for you NOW.

So what does it matter if you enjoy one last blow out, after all you’ve earned it? Well the fact of the matter is that really great employers with the best opportunities out there don’t think in terms of summer holidays. They think in terms of finding the best person to give their fantastic opportunity to. They think in terms of looking for someone motivated, on the ball, and most importantly someone available to join their organisation.

Sure you can hold on until September, just like “everyone else”, but just keep in mind that by then you will be competing against “everyone else” for the remaining positions available…or you can get your plan in place now, beat the rush and be at the front of the queue.
